Our family has been adventuring all summer, and we finally got to visit one of our most desired locations – The Blue Pool! This destination is located off Hwy 126 in the Willamette National Park, between Salem and Bend, OR. To get there you’ll need to take a 3.5 mile out-and-back hike from the Tamolitch Trailhead to the pool itself. However, this is the mileage to the very first Blue Pool viewing sites. To get down to the pool itself, add another mile (.5 miles each way).
This is an incredibly popular hike, so I recommend getting there as early as possible in the morning. We arrived at 8am (on a Friday) and that was perfect. We avoided most of the crowds and got great parking. When you arrive at the trailhead you’ll park on the side of the dirt road. If you get there too late, then entire road is filled an there is no other convenient parking close by. This trail is pet and child friendly. Our group consisted of four adults, two younger children, and one chaweenie. (We even saw a cat on a harness during the hike!)

Our Story:
I’m an adventurous soul who feels most at home surrounded by trails, trees, and water. Hiking is my peace and meditation, and I am so glad to be sharing this with the whole family. In Spring of 2022, our family took a weekend trip to the Oregon Coast and it was just as I remembered it when I was young. Breathtaking beauty, misty rain, and vast greenery. We visited several locations down the central coast that weekend and I craved more. We passed so many State Parks that looked intriguing, but I knew nothing about them, so I bought a book about the Oregon State Parks for future trip planning. When I was reading the book I realized… I want to see then ALL! So the family decided to embark on the adventure of visiting every State Park in Oregon (and hopefully moving on to Washington after).
